The reminders on the forum weren't needed to persuade me, but kept
prompting me to get my act together and do it.

What's the average time a newbi stays active here? If you can
tabulate this, split off those who leave quickly, then you can calculate
a length of time to give people "free" before you start to
preasure/insist on subscription (about the time they're hooked).

Regarding your idea - the problem is that people would just re-register
with another nick and start over again. Unless of course the software
could prevent this by tracking the user's IP address.

good point. I was thinking more of timing any persuasion to join the
cause right, rather than threatening to block people out.

Unfortunatly people could get around IP blocking too by using anon
proxys.
