I need to get a good graphics card for my computer. It has to be Direct X 8.1 compatible so I can play flight simulators and MMORPGs. I especially am considering Guild Wars. Any advice? I'm poor, so I want to keep the cost down, but I want a quality item.

Right now I have the Intel® 82845G Graphics Controller, which is a horrible POS.

It supports Direct X 9.0 so you'll be fine there. Lower models will be cheaper, but less effective. Also, make sure that whatever you buy is not higher than AGP x4, they will not be supported by your motherboard.
Also, once you've chosen a model, shop around noting prices, $189 seems high to me.
