I suppose if they take up a lot of bandwidth, fetching information from the
server behind the scenes, they would be disapproved of (unless the
information can be fetched from an XML interface, so that not entire pages
are loaded in the background for access to a specific piece of data). Other
than that, I don't know.

As far as I know, none of them are banned from use.

There was once a script that involved tablebase but as that contravened the TOS, it was very swiftly removed from use.

Thanks for the info.

Another script that is disallowed is one that removes adverts from the interface for non subscribers.

I don't think that that is a greasemonkey script though - are you thinking of a Mozilla extension?

I don't think that they have the resources to hunt down advert avoidance. It is still an infringement of the TOS however.

I found one on line on a web site, and I'm pretty sure that it was a script. I'll have another look.

These have been around for long enough - if they were not allowed I think they would've been removed by now.
