In AoE I would go for fast knights and hit their lumberjacks hard. Then just wall off and funnel them into one path where I pick them off with ranged units until I have my rams and trebuchets ready.
But this is like... it takes a month or two to finish one game. You come on a few times a day and collect and allocate resources. And then after a few weeks once you've built your alliances there are major battles across the map.

I am in an alliance but i dont know why? I attacked a city near my base and i took it over and collected resources.
