I'm a little perplexed by these two. Well, the latter really. As many of you may know, Guinness Extra Stout comes in the brown bottle with the oval yellowish label. When I order a Guinness this is what I expect to be served. But increasingly places are serving The Guinness Draught in the black bottle with the white neck and the little widget thingy inside. I do not care for the latter nearly as much.
The problem arises because most of the waitstaff tend to not know the difference, or even care. The problem is compounded by the fact that this Guinness Draught is served in bottles. So if you try to be specific and order a Guinness Extra Stout on draught, you are often met with a puzzled stare. Perhaps this problem is localized to the midwest where people tend to think Budweiser is a good beer, I couldn't say for sure.
Is there anyone else out there who has a preference one way or the other, or who has been similarly flummoxed by this problem? Why do they make this Guinness Draught anyway? It seems like a gimmick to me. I just want to be handed a Guinness Extra Stout when I say, Bring me a Guinness, and be quick about it, lass! Is that too much to ask?
