I hate semantic arguments but here goes. And I'll try to keep it simple.
There are now several definitions of "hacker." And whether hacking is legal or illegal depends on your definition. If you define a hacker (as most non-technical people do), as one "who illegally gains access to a computer system," then yes, hacking would be illegal. However, if ker Definition Controversy

"No necesarily. Hackers have an intelectual motivation to penetrate into systems they don't know. It is a false asumption that every hacker is guided by bad intentions. Some of them are the "bad guys" of the net. But the vast majority helps to discover flaws in operating systems.
They never cause intentional harm. They put in evidence the bugs they encounter, and after an "attack" they get in direct contact with the owners of the site or with the developers of the soft they are using.
But of course, the "bad guys" also exist. "
this, as far as i'm concerned, i no worse than breaking into someones house purely to see if it can be done. and is illegal.

i won't i'm untraceble i signed up to someone elses house
That way it won't be illegal, once you gain their consent. Signing up using a friend will not protect you: what's your friend likely to do when the authorities catch up with him.
You could use a Unix shell, or adjust your internet settings so you go through a proxy server but to be honest with you if you piss off the wrong people you will be caught.

all hackers i need your help someone i know has been trying to corrupt my computer and i am now trying to use the schools computers
and practice.
(although in all sincerity i would not learn java until i could use another, more basic, language. like basic. 🙂 java is scary.)
in short, learn to program.
Originally posted by 7172milldunno-you can get trueBasic from here, "http://www.truebasic.com/demo.asp", but that is just a simple programming language. i'm sure there are internet sites that will teach you. once you've mastered the logic behind programming (which programming in tb will teach you) then read the books i suggested.
ok i will try to program tell me where to start
then realise you can make more money (and it's legal!) as an ordinary programmer than as a hacker. then further realise that actually hacking is kinda boring...
