No rotten tricksters in my neck of the woods. Seems Australians have embraced this great holiday. I saw them walking the streets in their costumes, clearly enjoying the twighlight and the outdoors together.
My boy was off at his halloween party so I was left to meander the streets with my guitar, taking requests from trick or treaters.

    Just lovely!
Is it politically correct down under to dress as an aborigine or say, a cowboy?

Prolly politically incorrect to put dark paint on your face and 'act black' .

But no one was worried about being politically correct. I think the youngest (and leader) of the huge group I saw was like 12.
Seriously, I got the best vibe.
Even if one of those kids was dressed up as an aboriginal ...

You missed the aspect that should make it more palatable over there: the kids aren't begging, they are coercing via threat. Trick or treat, as in pay up or else.

On the contrary--> that was something authorities used to do in forties and fifties, so it would have evoked bad memories... 😉

I guess I think the adult version of Halloween is out of control. Ghosts and witches are fun; I like the decoration that looks like a witch on her broomstick has splatted against a wall, but some of it is just blood for the sake of blood as they try to imitate the latest slasher movie.

Here in the US kids do get dressed up for Easter and Xmas, mainly for family get-togethers, picture taking, and religious services.

The police don't let me out on Halloween anymore since that one year they caught me with the garden hose spraying cold water on any tykes in costume approaching my front door. 😛
