I'd use a squirt bottle with water, herding the hamster into position using the stream to interrupt it's path. Watch for outlets though.
I'm picturing you, bent over, with a spray bottle. MEOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, people. How do you capture an escaped hamster?

It's been about 9 hours since he was last seen.
I've got a spare mouse trap 😛

Here is a good tip - turn the lights off, hamsters are more inclined to come out of their nest in the dark (I think the feel safer, as in the wild there are less predators around at night).
If this does not work, you will probably have to wait - you can shut doors in rooms to restrict their movement, but just be sure there are no gaps under the doors as hamsters can be surprisigly
flexible.

Anyway, once night comes, they almost always come out and you can hear them scratching around the place. If not scratching, then chewing (hamsters have to chew things or their teeth will grow through their little heads)To catch them there are two good ways -

1. If they have not been escaped long and were friendly before
their escape you can catch them by hand. 2. If they have been gone for a few days they tend to become more wild (and much faster then you would have thought possible) so you will need to use a bit of human intuation
to get hold of them - I used to leave a large box on its side, and try and heard the hamster into the box - then tip it on its side so he cant get out and just pour him back into the cage (thus eliminating the satisfaction
he might have had by getting a bite in before incarceration)

Has the hampster turned up yet?

We had one that went missing for three days. It made a nest in the cleaning cupboard in a packet of shake and vac stuff. She was pure white and smelled lovely for weeks afterwards. I am surprised she wasn't poisoned though. That stuff could not be good for her!

During the 2 1/2 years we had her I think she escaped about 8 times!

I found a site that says to take a bucket, put his food in the bottom and place normal side up. Then, place a plank of some kind from floor to top of bucket lid, in order for the hamster to walk up and then, PLOP, he falls into the bucket and is trapped. I will try this.

YOU ARE ALL USELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Except Nordlys) 🙂

I always used to name my hamsters after different types of foods, they almost looked good enough to eat too.
