It was clear last night, but I didn't see much nordlys. Where did you read or hear about awesome nordlys last night? I can't find anything indicating increased activity.

It was all over the AOL main page yesterday. I can't see anything about it today though.

Weird. Solar activity has been low, and nothing special has been reported on any of my aurora mailing lists or forums. No observation reports for last night at http://www.spacew.com/www/auroras.php . My best guess is that someone mistook light pillars, disco lights or something like that for aurora.
