cheers everyone thats great, im going for a week part of my degree. We are going to pattaya for a week and spending two days in bangkok, sounds great can't wait. Heard rumours about saltwater crocs, does anyone know if i should worry?
The Baht to US dollar right now is very low, about 40 baht per
dollar US. Thats a lot less than when I was there.
Your money will go lot further now. I suspect they boost the prices
to make up for the differance in the exchange rate though.
It says the rate for Euro's is 48 baht per euro.
The british pound is 69 baht.

Don't forget Mok Luk, thai chess. Interesting how they handle the
pawns getting to the 4th rank in one move problem.

I'll be around for a while in the "Thailand room" if you want a game.
It will be my first game also.

Nakomphanom, up on the Mekong. Its a very slow game, the
pawns are on the third rank, the queen is the WEAKEST piece on
the board! The rooks, knights, king, and pawns are identical
to western chess, the others like golds and silvers in Shogi.
All of those pieces move like king moves in western chess with
restrictions on certain squares.
One time I got a draw against my thai buddy. He was a makrook
master, very highly placed in thai circles. It taught me some about
western chess also. They have pawn promotion but with the pawns
on the third rank to start, there is no En Passant as that kind of
position never occurs. Interesting, if somewhat slow, game.

looks to have time settings as well, similar to lightning games.

called the Hungarian Grotto, if anyone is in Bangkok right now,
maybe you could look it up in the phone book, see if its still there.
One time, my american gf and I were there and she has long
brown hair and we didn't notice this portable fan behind her, no
shields on the blades. All of a sudden, WHAM, her hair was sucked
up into the fan blades! That caused quite a stir I can tell you!
I was panicky and the blades were trying their best to yank out her
hair! Got it unplugged and it was a while before we could get her
hair untangled! Like they say, hair today, gone tomorrow!
