I was curious if anyone has had the pleasure of reading Alexander Solzhenitsyn's One Day In The Life of Ivan Denisovich. I just picked up this single chapter book and started to read it yesterday and found that it was a complete page turner. I simply could not put it down. What are you thoughts?

I have read the book after reading through Archipelago Gulag and found it much more readable. In fact anyone who does not need all the details on the Gulag but more the General impression should read Ivan Denissovitch.
Day in the life is a great little gem.

The attention span is one problem. Lots and lots and then lots more of horrendous tales to digest is another, IMVHO.
Originally posted by Ponderablei've read the first two, and was hot for the third, but it had gone awol from the library. reading lots of horrendous tales can be hard going, but i figure if someone lived through it to write about it, i can read through it.
