A bookseller sent me a copy of a book I ordered, and it was stolen
from the lobby of my building (I know this, because the seller had
a "delivery confirmation" number). When I e-mailed to see if he had
another copy (which I was willing to pay for), he said that he didn't,
butr he sent me, FOR FREE, an off-beat book called The Warlock of
Night by Dahlov Ipcar. It is essentially a novelization of an actual
game which took place between Stahlberg and Gligoric in 1949-- it is
an "adventure/fantasy," but the "characters" in the book are the
chessmen. And each chapter opens with the moves which took place
at that stage of the game. Just got it today, so can't provide a review,
but I was wondering if anyone else was familiar with it.
