Hawk Nest in Portland OR

General

Here is a live cam of a red-tailed hawk nest in Portland, Oregon. It looks like the hawks have chosen a fire escape for a nesting site!

It's dusk now on the West Coast of the US, so you'll have to wait about 8.5 to 9 hours to see the live cam again.

They're being fed right now, don't look if this kind of stuff grosses you out! 😉

Very cool. What's on the menu this morning? I can't make it out, but it kind of looks like a bird, maybe?

So I go on and it says "unavailable at this time"....I'm such a looser.😳

I'm an avid birdwatcher and I was driving down the 401 near London, Ontario on my way to Toronto for a meeting when I see this "bird" (a Great Horned Owl) on the side of the road. I stop and backup towards it and it doesn't move, I get out of the car and approach, cautiously, it's still alive but doesn't make any move to either defend itself or warn me off. I go back to the car and get a blanket, rap it in the blanket and put it in my car. I am aware that there is a Ministry of Natural Resouces office about a half an hours drive away and head there. They tell me that they don't take in wounded animals but that about an hours drive from there there is a raptor rehabilitaion center. Off I go. Well the long and the short of it is they are able to save the owl but are unable, due to a badly broken wing, to let it return to the wild. Turned out it was hit by a car or truck probably while diving for an animal and misjudged the traffic. I keep in touch with the center following it's recouperation and went back on several occasions to see it. P.S. I'll try the site again later.
