My better half has hay fever pretty bad, sniffing and itchy eyes. I was wondering if there's anyone here that can recommend a decent remedy/medication?

Thanks in advance....huck

Yes, antihistamine is the standard pill for hay fever or allergies.

If Benadryl doesn't help, you can try Zyrtec (Zyrtec also should not cause drowsiness as much as Benadryl may, Zyrtec is more expensive, though).

The next step up from oral antihistamines is an intranasal corticosteroid spray. See a doctor for advice concerning these. They have possible side effects, but are generally considered safe. They usually have to be taken for several days before peak effect.

i never liked taking any of the prescribed or over-the-counter medicines for my allergies...
either made me sleepy or wired, not good...

this will not work for everyone, and prolly only those with a slight allergy to pollen, but, gramma always made me wash my hands and face real good with soap and cold water...

still works fairly well to this day...
cheap...

During my early halcyon years as helion, my now departed dear Mom often

washed my mouth out with black, coarse Lava Soap for being good.

What did she use when you were bad?

In most of the civilized world, hay fever is also known as allergic rhinitis. True hay fever is caused specifically by an allergy to grass pollen.

I remember Lava soap as being coarse, yes, but I also remember it was green, not black.

I use unbranded cetirizine hydrochloride and find it perfectly effective as well as delightfully inexpensive.

This is Zyrtec. If you can find it, generic equivalents are always cheaper.
