Yes, antihistamine is the standard pill for hay fever or allergies.
If Benadryl doesn't help, you can try Zyrtec (Zyrtec also should not cause drowsiness as much as Benadryl may, Zyrtec is more expensive, though).
The next step up from oral antihistamines is an intranasal corticosteroid spray. See a doctor for advice concerning these. They have poss ...[text shortened]... generally considered safe. They usually have to be taken for several days before peak effect.
