There is an easy fix to this if you reset the Chrome cache for favicons. Delete the Favicons file in the designated location:
In Windows:
C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
**In OS X:
/Users/your_username/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default/
**To access the User Library folder in OS ...[text shortened]...

Originally posted by sonhouse I think the things are called "Favicons' maybe. The thumbnail icons when you do the second tab after opening Chrome.
Trying to figure out how to recover one I accidentally X'd out or add new ones. Anyone know about these things? I can't find much info about them.
Yeah, use a browser that doesn't insist on knowing every detail of your online life so it can 'phone home' and add your details to the database. Google is the 'Big Brother' we were warned about, not government.

Not sure now if I am talking about favicons. I am talking about the square boxes, maybe 5 across and 2 deep which are links to sites, with symbols inside the box as a descriptor.
They come up if you open Chrome then hit another tab, they don't appear in the first tab.

It's the most visited section I think you're talking about?
I think Chrome handles additions to that bit.
I found this too - maybe it'll help?

Yep, that's the one. I did figure the round about way of getting the thumbnail back.
One question: How do you force a site you want to be on that thumbnail list to get there? I don't seem to have any control over how a thumbnail arrives. Some of them I only use occasionally and don't really need the quick link, and would rather have others I just found. So how do I force a thumbnail?
