I would like to Know what most players think about analizing their
games in computers Trying to look for the best move. I used to, but
with other user name, and I learned a lot in a short time. Now dont
anymore.
I think should be good if you play your ideas and in a specific position
you stop and receive some help.
What do you think.
If you use a computer to help you determine your next move in a
game you are cheating and your rating is meaningless. I use a
computer to pracitice with different openings or to go back and
evaluate played games or previous moves but NEVER to determine my
next move. If my rating goes up or down it is going to be based upon
my skill level without the help of anything. This does put me at a
disadvantage because I do think that I have lost to a computer at
times.
you raise an interesting point when you say you have lost to a
computer at times.how would you determine it?? or are you saying this
because you lost.!! is it as it was years ago? many years ago i bought
computer chess for my son!! it had computer vs computer function on
it! when watching it play against itself. ::i thought : i wouldnt make
that move.or that move was stupid. anyway it just always worked out a
draw. the moves had no patern or feel to them. i thought it stupid!!
has this changed.! anyway how did you lose against the computer.
maybe a stronger or better program. the one my son has is a push
over!! good for practise but i would never be advised by it:-)every time
im beaten here! i set it up and beat it just to make myself feel better!!
One way to tell that you are playing a computer on this site is when
you opponent's level of play changes in mid game. It's like your
playing a different opponent with a different style. It sounds like the
computer chess game you mentioned was brain dead or "stupid" as
you called it. There are games out there some with different levels of
play that are tuff to beat even by higher level players.
Those who were here from the beginning may remember we had a
deliberately not very well publicised feature called ‘suggest a move’.
It has long since gone, and rightfully so.
There is nothing we can do to stop cheaters (and it is cheating), so we
just have to hope that everyone plays like good a sportsmen, and
plays fair.
I did enjoy the confession though.

Hey there
I aint got nuffin to do with this so tell me to f*** off. i got three
electronic chess games but there with my mum. Now you all know how
crap i am at chess(but that is going to change) well recently i started
to read these two books, so now i can beat the computer on the lowest
level(sometimes).
Anyway we all know BESSYBOO(dont worry im not going to be nasty)
well im in the middle of a game with her but after this game i'm
gonna mosey on down to oregon get my computer and set it up in my
house and plug it all up to the internet so bessy can play it herself,if
ya still wanna. I know what ya mean id rather play a person but you
need experience so practice with a computer, just not fake games.

this site is a play by mail site.! all of my books say that opening
books, lists of past moves and setup boards are permitted. computer
databases?? well i guess this may be the way of the future for chess.i
wonder after reading suggestions in my books from gms on winning at
chess. things like." this move must be made quickly and forcefully to
distract your opponent" i wonder what their view point would have been
if they had computers back then???after all we as players study and
practise their openings!! cheating??? if the game is good does it
matter?? win or lose.this type of chess where you dont sit opposite
your opponent and are able to read there body language is very
clinical.but still a good player can feel the moves. emanueuel lasker
1868-1941 held the world title for 27 yrs a psychologist was noted for
playing the man not the board!! a computer does it have feelings or
just good moves???
