this is posed to the serious competitive tournament players out there ---
given the anxiety, tension and internalized pressure one encounters during a tournament, do you think it leads to high blood pressure ?
had my check-up with the cardiologist recently and it got me wondering whether tournament chess is harmful to ones health.

You can lose more weight in chess just due to stress than in any other sport.
So yes high blood pressure and chess are linked...the main goal when you go to a tourney is try and make it fun...if you get so stressed about losing that it is effecting you adversely than tournament chess is NOT for you.
Simple as that.
