I would expect a lot of people in manual labor jobs wouldn't need to. If you use your hands a lot for hard work your nails will wear down for people doing farming and that sort of job you just wouldn't worry.

That's true....plus it's bloody awful when you bite your nails after cleaning out the pigs. 😕
