I'm a major hockey fan.
I'm a racing fan, and to date, really enjoyed Formula One.
After the NHL lockout, at least I had AHL hockey although I didn't think I'd find an executive more imcompetent than Gary Bettman.
Today, I felt just as bad as I did when they cancelled the hockey season. The clan Formula Chess is gone, temporarily renamed Formula One Sucks until a more suitable name can be found.
I'm an American, and I can't see why I'd be interested in Formula One any more. My roots are in IndyCar, so I have a natural affection for open-wheel racing.
But today was a farce. Formula One does not hold any credibility.
Hockey stays in my heart, will forever. It's that great a sport.
As for motorsports, there are other series to follow fortunately and F1 is, in the minds of the United States, now gone.
F1 is dead in the USA now, and damaged even more worldwide.
The FIA have been wanting to crack America and the have really shot themselves in the head, here.
I don't blame the drivers or the teams or Michelin. The FIA should have sorted it out.
EDIT: Actually, I've just read that Ferrari vetoed the rescue plan. Can we blame them? I think so. Of course altering the track for the sake of the Michelins might be unfair to Ferrari but at least we would have got a race.
