Understandable. You continue to project your own self acknowledged shortcomings on those who are bothersome obstacles to the achievement of your premeditated agenda. Common except for one dimension that's been overlooked: you constantly hide behind your intelligence, because you dread vulnerability and fear being found out. Rare but interesting condition indeed.

Been there, done that, seen the musical, bought the poster.

As one grows older the company of one's lady becomes an
integral part of the joy of traveling.

i've done the group travel, couple travel and solo travel. good and bad points to all three but depending on the location i feel i have a more eye opening/informative experience alone. i find it much easier to interact with the locals when i'm on my own, plus you're not tied down to anyone else's wants or need during the 'holiday'.

saying that i can totally understand what you're saying and will probably feel the same some day.

Yeah, perhaps it's about the destination, indeed -just like
football, e.g. I like to watch La Liga quietly by myself, but
EPL is fine in the company of friends.

au yes, something few people understand. i'm the same with and ireland football or rugby matches... locked away in my little cocoon is the only way to go. can watch any other match with people though, but i do prefer to watch serie a alone.
