Golfers Peter Thompson and Nick Faldo, and the commentator Peter Alliss were all given honorary degrees from the university of St Andrews the other day. presumably this is because the open is being help in St Andrews this year and thus it is appropriate. However, they have all been awarded Law degrees (according to the metro). St Andrews does not actually have a Law faculty. It is impossible for students to obtain a law degree at St Andrews...

Well, thank God they weren't given real degrees, or else they might start trying to practice law somewhere, and wackiness would ensue.

It sounds illegal.

You're forgetting it's St. Andrews; home of the R&A.
The only laws that matter up there are the rules of golf, which I'm sure all three are masters at (especially Peter Alliss, that man is a legend).

I don't think Nick Faldo will have noticed the discrepancy, the man is so dull he's practically undead.

Sorry to sound rough but this all sounds a bit daft. They are all a fairway from that degree of intellectualism. There are a lot of faults that need to be ironed out. Would it not make more sense to give them all a masters in golf. It is, after all, what they are best at and it wood make a hole lot more sense. They are the best in their field.

I'd hazard a guess that you're just being a pitch.

This hole accusation is sub-par.

I don't think so. I think he is being a bounder and a caddy.

I agree. But I can't afford to divot so much of my time to all this.
