The average four year-old child asks over four hundred questions a day.
Question - We are all thrilled when a small child says it's first word and takes it's first tentative step. Why is it then that shortly afterwards we're telling them to "sit down and shut up!"
Originally posted by Jay PeateaIt is Hottentottententententoonstelling in Dutch and surprise it isn't nonsense: 'Hottentotten' is a Pygmee race I think, 'tenten' is the dutch word for tents and 'tentoonstelling' is the dutch word for an exhibition.
What is the most odd, weird or useless piece of information that you know ?
Mine is the probably the above word which is dutch for nonsense.
So Hottentottententententoonstelling means exhibition of tents of Hottentots

The longest word in Finnish is (and I'll cut this in bits to prevent [WORD TOO LONG], in reality it's all one word): "Epäjärjestelmällis tyttämättömyydel lisyydelläänsäkään"
A rough translation would be "Even without her/his tendency to cause disorder". How do you pronounce it? Most Finns get their toungues in a knot half way through, or at least miss a few sylables. When would you ever use such a word? Aside from telling people that it's the longest word in Finnish language, I for one haven't encountered the right context yet.... and I'm not holding my breath! 🙄
