The Muslim Council of Britain yesterday advised the government to get rid of Holocaust Memorial Day, as it is offensive to Muslims.
I find this difficult to believe, seeing as 6 million people were murdered and it nothing to do whatsoever with muslims?
How can it bee offensive?

I didn't see this story - do you have a source?

Everyone is always talking about the evil parts of the Holocaust. But what about the good parts? Why don't we ever hear about them?

It was in the Daily Telegraph yesterday (13.09).

There where so few good parts in the Holocaust (Schindler, Wallenberg) and they only existed because of the Holocaust.
For every Jew saved by Oskar Schindler, many thousands were killed. If anything, the good bits get inflated into more than they where.

What food bits did you have in mind?

Everyone's still talking about the Treblinka inmates' production of Fiddler On The Roof. For the pogrom at the end, the Russian prisoners came in & murdered the whole cast. Very avant-garde.

OK. I read the article, and it didn't say anything about 'getting rid of Holocaust Memorial day because it is offensive to Muslims'.

It talked about replacing Holocaust Memorial Day with a more inclusive 'Genocide Memorial Day', taking account of the various groups who've suffered genocide.

This is not an idea which I'm that impressed with, but it is nothing like how you originally described it.

I wasn't talking about those guys (it was a crap movie anyway), if it wasn't for the Holocaust we'd all have giant noses now. Why don't you think about that?

Start another sentence with "If it wasn't for the Holocaust..."

If it was'nt for the holocaust maybe euthanasia would'nt have got such a bad name, and maybe xanthos' parents could have spared us this.

To rename Holocaust Day as Genocide Day by request of the Muslim Council of Britain is almost like getting rid off it. There is nothing wrong with having a Genocide Memorial Day, as many groups have indeed suffered from this terrible fate.
However Holocaust Day should remain seperate, as the Holocaust is unique in it's brutality and scale.
I thought the article does state at one point that Holocaust day is offensive to Muslims.

If it wasn't for the Holocaust I wouldn't be able to bring silence to even the loudest parties with a single joke.
