Nah, it's just the voices in your head. Bang a little harder on the keyboard, and they'll be quiet.

So much to do so little time. And why does everything cost so much money?? I'm booking a dolphin encounters in the Bahamas....small fortune. And now I've com accross a heicpter tour of the islands. I love helicopters. Another small fortune. And who doesn't want to go horseback riding on the beach? Lucky for my pocket book there are age restictions on that one. 🙂

Anyone with any money saving tips while travelling speak up now! As I've never undertaking such a trip in my life I'm guessing at certain costs. Anyone from the US that can give me a round about cost of what it will run me to feed 3 people for 6 days in Orlando?

I'm guessing at $300 US. I could be WAY off on this. But I'm thinking we'll be in Disneyworld the majority of the time there with the cost of one character dining included in the price.

For the 3 days in Fort Lauderdale I'm estimating $150 US for dining. Am I even close on this? 😕

Very funny. They might charge me for the extra poundage on the trip back. They can eat MacDonalds here.

I thought you said there were 4 people going? Anyways, take a credit card as a backup just in case.

I don't really count the baby in alot of expenses. She eats of my plate and is still breastfed. The only real expense she will cost is the port charge accross international waters.

But it's hard to estimate total costs in Canadian/American dollars when you've never been to the states before. At least I get a better rate of exchange through my girlfriend who works at a bank. They get cheaper rates of exchange. 🙂

I'm trying to overestimate everything so that I don't have to have a credit card debt over this. I don't like spending what I don't have.

You made it quite clear all on your own!!

Forget the helicopter ride and the riding on the sands etc live within your means.

I personally hate having any money owing on my credit cards and try to only pay for stuff if I have saved up (unless its essential)

I hope you have a great time, shame there isnt someone special in your life to enjoy the experience with (apart from your kids that is!)

Well this is a once in a lifetime thing for us. So I don't mind going all out. Even if it does mean scrimping and saving every last dime. It's all money I would spend and waste on useless things anyway. So curbing my spending habit a little will be tough but not impossible.

And considering everything that we will get to experience and do on this trip it is still really cheap considering it's for 4 people (well baby is free for most things so 3 people).

I know people that have spent what I'm spending just for themselves on a 1 week trip to only one destination. So I'm ok with spending a fair amount for the activities and experience the kids will get to have. Even if it means reusing my tea bags. I've also taken on extra income for the next three months that will all go towards this trip. So credit cards should never have to come into the picture.

I'm actually starting to get a little excited over the whole thing. 3 months is still alot of time to save up for extras. The dolphins and helicopter ride are musts. 😀

Edit:
And yes I do wish it could have been a true family trip and have that special someone there with me. But can't let it stop ya from enjoying life anyway.

pick me up on the way. I'll probably have about 6 hours vacation time saved up by then.

Best wishes mokko. I'll send you some extra spending money if I win the lottery or something.

Takes approx 3 hours from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando.

My wife came back from Orlando after a weeks holiday with her mum dad and brother (long story on how she got the ticket!) the only catch was I had to stay in the UK with my 2 + half y/o daugher who was potty training at the time and an 8 week old son!! Think I got the rough end of the stick on that one!! managed to stretch 3 games of golf in when she came back - how decent of her!!! LOL!

Im sure you will have a great time, just the smile on your kids faces will be enough!! 😀

2 breasts - 1 baby, hmmmmmm?!?!?!? Seriously, I could have taken you to that area for 1/4 the price since my buddy owns a cottage on the water. Don't worry about not knowing me, we're both Canadian, eh!😉
