If you don't sign out you should stay signed in. Otherwise you can go to "My Settings" and find "enable Multi sign" and enable that. You can then stay signed in on different machines.

I do stay signed in, so I don't know if it shows I am on 24/7 or my green dot disappears when I am off of the site on my tower. I could be on my cell and not on the site, just the chess section of it.

If you are using an iPad/iPhone, the most common cause is "privacy mode".
If you leave it enabled, your session will be deleted each time you close the web page (it deletes all cookies). Good for privacy, bad for staying logged in!
