Do they roll a really long piece of mint and then chop it up to form the circle mints?

I don't know; I have never seen one up close.

In WW II times--and maybe now, for all I know--ball bearings were made by chopping up a long solid cylinder of metal, then dropping the pieces into a stamping mill. The mill would hammer away at the disks, and in the process deform them such that they took on an ever more spherical shape. Some final polishing and heat-treating, and voila.

Altoids? Dunno.

Some hard candies are made by rolling out a big long "sugar stick" as it's known in the industry, and chopping that into little pieces, but my guess is that Altoids start as powder and are pressed into shape.

Ahh altoids are great but not to be confused with the no days popular drug "steroids" which is commonly used for muscle enhancement which if caught will lead to little punishment by the MLB. Anyways, of you have 1 or 2 of those altoids followed by a freezing cold glass of water...let's just say you'll be able to breathe through your nose better then ever imaginable.
