I had roughly the same experience with Alien vs. Predetor (or whatever the game was called).

Creeping along hallways and things and then you hear running behind you and then screaming and what-not. If I remember correctly you had to goggle things, one you could see an alien and the other you could see the predator...but not both at the same time.
And the alien could crawl along the ceiling and walls as well.

Very well made. I have to admit.

AvP2 was really cool as well...but AvP rocks. No way I could play that Marine level (the first one) past 3 oçlock in the afternoon.

Agreed, especially that level where you have no lights and you can only see as far as you chuck a flare (which goes out after a short period of time). Creepy as hell, that freaked me out good and proper. Playing the Alien in AvP2 was amazing, it gave you a really good idea of just how utterly powerful and dangerous they really could be. If the AI for the aliens in the game was half as good as a human playing the alien, nobody could ever have finished the game playing the marine or the Predator.
