What you do is manage the resources better, and do what Norway did with their Oil revenue. That way, by the time the oil runs out the country will benefit from the money, rather than having it squandered away with nothing to show for it. Oil isn't our only resource, but you will know that already, right? You wouldn't start a thread like this without doing the research, that'd be a moronic thing to do.
It's for sure the 1707 act of union has benefited Scotland, now doing over 10 billion pounds of trade with the US and Euro countries and there is the shipbuilding trade in Glasgow but not as great as in the past.

I get the feeling Scotland can get along quite well without the UK now, what with your other trades, textiles, electronics, banking services and so forth, to say nothing of the thriving tourist trade.

Sounds like a good thing to split from the UK, at least from what I can see from across the pond.

Well, I did notice on my trip to Ireland the most obnoxious riders on the trams were from Britain, noisy and rude like they were landlords or some such. I saw the Irish as very polite unless you get them drunk in front of a Brit🙂

Salmon done some good socialist things, he gave free medical prescriptions to everyone in Scotland and pensioners can ride on public transport anywhere in the entire country for free.

Scotland would be unlikely to be trading trillions of pounds OR dollars in US speak. I think the US version of billions is the right number of decimal points🙂

Yet if you look at our country under Westminster rule, you'd think we were one of the poorest nations in the world, not the 14th richest. Aye, it's time for a change.

If its in our territorial waters its ours and after independence you leeches are gonna have to pay up for it. We might even sell you our water if you behave. Have you produced a single credible reason why we should not be independent yet?

King Alex is legend, a rebel leader against an evil empire. Nick Clegg and that Tory divesjeester might be building a death star but the force is with us.
