I am disappointed

General

I am disappointed to see what these forums have become.

I see posters whom I consider friends attacking each other in public. I see nasty little cliques forming in both public and private forums. I see posters getting a ton of thumb-downs for legitimate posts. What I don't see is threads and posts which are even mildly interesting, funny or thought-provoking.
This is no longer a real forum.

Things That Bring A Smile is a good thread. Very short though; maybe in these trying times, people don't have a lot to smile about.

The General forum is sometimes pretty interesting.

I don't think we should have thumbs up/down - if we have something to say we should say it.

Here here! I completely agree, Torunn, the red thumbs have become nasty and meaningless; thumbs up, well I suppose we could keep those, just to keep things positive and encouraging. I mean really, it's a chess website, and nothing more than that.

Ok, so let's keep the thumbs up. πŸ™‚ If we don't get any green thumbs then most readers disagree or are indifferent.

Twitter is a seething mass of anger and hatred.
The GF is saintly by comparison.

It is still a forum, just not what you would like to see.

The little cliques have existed since I been here back in 2006, just the people in them have changed is all.

Agreed, they are not as entertaining as they once were though.

There were some very interesting and witty posters when I was new on this site and it took some time before I was introduced to the forums and clubs. Those were different times.

Strange, in my eyes you are still new to the site, but I see you been here around 6 years now, how time flies by.
