Damn. Finally got through.
Banks are so secretive about other people's accounts nowadays.
Just other people's? My bank won't even tell me my balance after I deposit a large sum of
cash into my account. It seems that revealing the balance to someone who knows the account number, the name on account, and has just deposited cash into the account is a security risk. I have to show ID after such a transaction, just to get my balance. This is totally beyond reason to me, but I guess expecting common sense to be common practice is not very wise on my part. If the deposit were a check, it would make sense, because the check could bounce, but cash?
