He's amazing from any point of view, but understand he's using an open tuning adjusted for that particular song.

It's almost like a magic trick.

Magic trick or not, it's still the sleight of hand that makes it work. He also uses that fact to his advantage by utilising the extra freedom of his hands for percussive work. Watch all of his videos, he is a truly gifted player.

As for your link, much appreciated. Please excuse my ignorance but i had never heard of Sabicas before. What a talent! Thanks for the heads up.

No doubt in my mind he is truly gifted, and I will even say again (see the first two words of my previous post) that he is amazing.

But for whatever it's worth I'll still give the heads up that in that song he is playing an open tuning.

Yes, it's in open tuning. Well spotted. Give that man a dough nut.

I've already given him my up most congratulations on being a talented, amazing guitar player. He doesn't need a doughnut.

Was talking about you, not him. Blue Peter badge and all that. Well done for spotting a guitar in open tuning. Must take a discerning ear and someone of great talent to do that.

I understand he has taken the guitar playing to a next level of musical theory, within his own specialized 'open tuning'. To me he sounds like a magician of the guitar. How 'magic' can be perceived as a bad thing within this context is beyond me.

Sabicas is de man! Also Manitas De Plata, hands of silver!.

And in modern acoustic blues, you can't go wrong with Rory Block, here 'Crossroad blues', a Robert Johnson song. I dare anyone to duplicate her playing here!

It also doesn't hurt she is only SLIGHTLY sexy🙂

Here she is doing 'If I had possession over judgement day':

And her own song, Silver Wings:

Her guitar technique sounds simple but it is very subtle with percussive effects.

Don't forget Hawaiian guitar, here Ledward Kaapana, very entertaining:

How bout this great elemental force on the guitar, D'Gary from Madagascar:

And this great lady from Botswana:

If anyone can do magic tricks on the guitar it is the great lady from Botswana. 😲

edit: she is playing an open tuning.

Doesn't he get confused with all of those strings? Also, I bet it is a bitch to tune up and a new set of strings must cost a fortune. Makes you appreciate George Formby's way of thinking 😛
