If you didn't amend any system files or cause damage and also, if your barrister could demonstrate the accidental nature of your hacking into the computer then the case could be argued on the grounds of lack of culpability.

You lacked the means to carry out the crime. I am not sure where you are from but American legislation is even more definite than the UK's. We have murder (absolute) and manslaughter (to describe causing death through negligence or without malice aforethought [eg crimes of passion in some cases]. In the States I believe they have Murder 1, Murder 2 etc to accomplish the same task of discrimination.
