The main culprit is "criminality". People come on the TV or radio, thinking that they are the dog's nads when they say things like "the man, 34 was taking part in Criminality", or "there seems to be a rise in Criminality", or some other such junk.............We have a word in the English Language for criminality, it's "Crime". Stop it you morons.
Criminality is not the same as crime, Huck, though I agree that your media types are using the word improperly. Crime is unlawful activity or the offense itself, while criminality is the state or quality of being criminal. That's the reality.

I was just thinking of the misused word "irregardless" when regardless serves the purpose. Another made-up word is "orientated" or "disorientated", when they mean "oriented" or "disoriented".I guess they are confusing it with another word, "orientation". And how often do people say, "I could care less", when the correct wording is, "I couldn't care less"?

"Orientated" is legit British English. I agree about the rest of these, though. They are very annoying.

I agree with your examples except for wondering if "I could care less" might be some shortened form of "I could care less, but it would take a herculean effort to do so"

Is it? If so, it's a banana peel on the edge of slippery slope. I've heard "conversate" and I had to scold a coworker about some word that he "-ated" incorrectely. I can't remember what it was though.

There seems to be a strange, and infuriating trend here in Ireland, and i was wondering if it's infected any other countries. It seems, that there are those (media figures seem particularly fond), who think that they sound more intelligent if they take a word, and add "ality" on the end........STOP DOING IT. YOU ARE A MORON, AND YOU LOOK STUPID.

...[text shortened]... people trying to sound brainy when they are just taking part in Retardality.
Are those ugly, bad, complicated, new words scaring you or making you feel uneducated, huck?

I'll chase them away, hun, so they don't freak you out.

Bad words, bad words! Shoo! Shooo!

LOL. The intriguing part is that it's harder to go backwards -- how does one incorrectly create new words, for example?

Not much chance of getting scary words out of you. I'm guessing something about me being drunk will be next. 😛

It's the missuse/overuse of these words by people, in an attempt to sound like they're brainy that grinds my gears.

And i'll tell what else grinds my gears is that i can never find the droids i'm looking for....What's up with that.

No, I am still working for the spelling police.

Why is your question mark so afraid of "you"?
