why not just give it a straight color background.
putting the games into a table would make them a little easier to read - and may be have a graphic to show the game in action?

I agree, the game rules should probably be formatted better (or at all, for that matter). Also diagrams - I think for Order, I could do an example game, with diagrams showing what happens. Patterns needs diagrams (the patterns!) but I need to decide what these are first.
I might put a colour background in, but if you stick to the standard 216-colour palette, there aren't many choices of colour that wouldn't look ugly.
By the way, did you look at the Rory Naismith factfile (on the links page)? I found it quite amusing, but maybe that's because I know Rory. He now has ~60 of his wishes on a T-shirt. 😀
