I used to think that an ipod was grouped in with cell phones, YouTube and My Space as narcissistic material masturbation. I figured that those who owned them should always be holding up a mirror to themselves in order to be happy.

But lately I've been taking a bus to work. Those portable song holders don't seem like such a bad idea anymore.

For about $215 you can have thousands of songs - probably your entire collection of music - in a tiny plastic object that can travel with you, it seems like an awesome idea.
