Being an American, I never knew he did live shows. The first time I saw him was in "There's Something About Mary". I remember at the time thinking, "Man, that is the most phony British accent I've ever heard." Then when his character reveals that the accent, and indeed his life is a sham, I thought I was hearing something more closely resembling how he really talks. Then I read somewhere months later that he was British.
