Why would my Mac mini test-rig not boot with the ethernet cable plugged in? Wasted a good half hour, that one.
And even more annoying, why does the power cable keep falling out of the back everytime there is a slight disturbance. I am going to ruin the machines good looks by covering it in sticky tape soon.
Not many bad things to say about it in general, but today it has been driving me nuts.

That is not good...

Talk about resisting progress. Finally, modern Macs work with two button mice. Now, does anyone out there still prefer one button, now they can use two?

How can anyone prefer one mouse button? It's like going to the zoo and being faced by a 3-legged giraffe. You know, it looks like an African animal, but...something is just...well...missing...

But I can add to this I have been working on macs since 1991 and I don't know any better. I really really really get annoyed with the multiple buttoned mouse. Add Windows to that and it will cause mental problems to me.
Are you sure your ethernet connector is not broken? Of course your computer should start up with ethernet connected. And the power cable should be connected all time too. I cannot imagine them building a relatively fragile machine...
Originally posted by AikoIt has been so long since I used a Mac with a single button mouse and keyboard, but as far as I remember, everytime you need to view the contextual options for an object, you had to press the apple key and click? A single right mouse button is really so much easier.
I like the one button mouse.

Talking of which, the apple site makes me laugh - the blurb for their own two button mouse. ("Apple Mighty Mouse"😉
"It looks and feels like a sleek one-button mouse, but Mighty Mouse's smooth top shell hides a powerful secret: touch-sensitive technology under the shell detects which part of the mouse you're clicking, so you can both left-click and right-click."
So, lets pretend it is still a one-button mouse (just to save face), but REALLY it is now a two-button mouse.
I am not Mac bashing here, so apologies if it sounds that way.
Regarding my problems. I have no idea why it would not boot with the ethernet in, but once I reinserted the cable after booting, all was well. I haven't tested it again since.
Regarding the power cable, this definitely is a problem. Maybe I pull and tug my wires more than most (my desk is half covered in the stuff) but even so...

Well, my final comment (until the next one) is that no more than 2 buttons is necessary. I disable my side buttons.
But a scroll wheel is essential 😉 (and also supported on the Mac)
Particularly the clickable ones (err, so that is three buttons then), because I need that to jump when playing Quake, but for nothing else.
