We're aware of the tax issues. Currently the company undertakes refurbishment, but it's a bitch of a job and we're both sick of it. This money was mean't to have been paid two years ago but the bastards saw fit to try and screw us for payment (which has happened consistently for over 20 years now, hence why my old man has had enough of this dogs life!) T ...[text shortened]... t have to do what we're doing (cos it sucks ass!)
Ideas, someone must have an idea??

...to set up a new business, what would you do? This isn't actually a hypethetical question, my Dads business is in line to clear £100,000 on a job and we're looking for ideas...🙂
Personally i would love to open a tea shop, but it is a pipe dream only, nothing more (or maybe a pot dream 😛 )

Well I'm 30 years old, 5K in debt and haven't a pie to piss in. Do you seriously want my advice? 😛
I will willingly give it to you if you want. 🙂
"Haven't a pot to piss in" is the correct term i think .

Cash cows.
Originally posted by MarinkatombThat is the bane of ALL small business owners regardless of the sector you are in. A new venture won't change that. People hate to actually pay. The more you work with BIG business or Government, the more it happens. At least the Government always pays, but it may take half your life to get it.

My only suggestions are to not rush into any new venture. Make sure to research the viability in-depth. Concentrate on what you know, or *could* learn. If you can find a profitable niche you will be golden. I stumbled upon my current niche, found out there was NO competition to be had and now have a year's backlog of contracted work.
