...to set up a new business, what would you do? This isn't actually a hypethetical question, my Dads business is in line to clear £100,000 on a job and we're looking for ideas...🙂
Originally posted by Marinkatombif you're looking for ideas for a commercial venture, my first question is: how much are you willing to pay for a good idea?

After all if it is doing well why do you want to risk money in a new venture?
Also is the £100K net of all tax liabilities? If not remember that he taxman will take a substantial slice depending on whether the business if run as a sole trader or a Ltd co.
Originally posted by adramforallWe're aware of the tax issues. Currently the company undertakes refurbishment, but it's a bitch of a job and we're both sick of it. This money was mean't to have been paid two years ago but the bastards saw fit to try and screw us for payment (which has happened consistently for over 20 years now, hence why my old man has had enough of this dogs life!) The company managed to trade out of trouble, but now we are finally going to recieve this money, which means we have a nice chunk to work with.

Te problem is that we haven't got a clue what to do. 😕 We could invest in a company, but we'd much rather do something which mean't we didn't have to do what we're doing (cos it sucks ass!)
Ideas, someone must have an idea??
