@the-gravedigger saidSomeone who is retired and doesn't get out much might want to only play internet chess. And at his skill level chatting is something he could enjoy without it being a distraction, although it might be a distraction to some of his opponents.
Fair point.
I hadn't checked that.
If he is that rating in real life OTB chess he is an elite player verging on International Master. My point was this site would be an amusing diversion. He would be getting all sorts of invites to big tournaments.
He would not have time to notice he was being ignored on this site.
Anywho, if we knew more about him (personally) his desire to chat during games might make perfect sense.
I have no desire to talk during games because I'm too easily distracted by back and forth chatting. When playing here I didn't want to talk to anyone, even at the message boards. For a while I would only play chess, then switch to only gabbing at message boards, then back to only playing chess. I can't say why, but at some point the message board 'games' proved to be more interesting than playing chess. Which is odd, because when I joined this site I had no intention of talking to anyone.
@great-big-stees saidAnd VR is about 6 different "kinds".
As I said, "it takes all kinds".
But they're all good. 😉
@mudfinger saidLOL....Not everyone would agree with you on that one!!! 😉

@ponderable saidMost of my posts are thumbed down, it is a way my chess internet buddies have of acknowledging everything I say Postive or Negative!!! 😉

@very-rusty saidYou have a rather huge opinion of yourself.

@very-rusty saidNobody cares.
Makes me laugh when I read the threads that start out as one thing, and 99 times out of a 100 the topic will change somewhere along the way.
I've actually had posts removed in the past because of that. Also been asked by a moderator to stay on the topic. It is joke if they aren't going to enforce it in every thread and not just a few threads or to a few people.
Time ...[text shortened]... red in a chat while playing in case anyone has forgotten. 😉
I rest my little rant! 😉

@very-rusty saidWise man say, 'if man take time to swat fly, doesn't mean man care about fly.'
Obviously you do Suzie Q or you wouldn't have mentioned that nobody cares! 😉 😛

@ghost-of-a-duke saidActually if man take time to swat fly, means the fly is annoying him, therefore does care!! 😛 😉

@very-rusty saidAh, I see. The only way in life you can get people to care about you is to annoy them.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidIf that is what you think, then it is fine with me. Do you think it will stop me from posting on here because of what you think?....I think we both know the answer to that one. 😛 😉
