Or: Cosmetic surgery: the new disease
I was reading a Dutch newspaper today and stumbled across some horrendous facts and figures I want to share with y's all:
England:
51% of women aged 17 to 34 would like cosmetic surgery (although a diet and a condom would probably be more useful)
1/3 of girls with size 38 think they're too fat.
America:
62% would like cosmetic surgery. This is 8% more than last year.
Brazil:
50% of women want plastic surgery.
Korea:
77% of Korean women are thinking of cosmetic surgery, 62% of women under 30 have had it!
It costs more to shrink your breasts (which is medically more common than vice-versa) than to enlarge them and in the Netherlands a labia correction costs 1750 euros. A labia correction...
Who the hell are we kidding here? All (straight) men are glad to get hold of any labia, no matter what they look like and 90% of men wouldn't recognise their partner's labia in a line-up. What are we talking about here?
"Oh sorry dear, you're not my type...your labia minorus is too bulbous for my liking." I DON'T THINK SO!
And breasts. Is there any man who truly is put off a girl if she has small breasts? Is there any man who's looked at Drew Barrymore in "Boys on the side", when she lifts up her T-shirt who thought: "Hey...Drew's got no tits!"?
No, Of course not.
Just like big swaying breasts can be attractive, so can small pointy ones.
What sort of society are we creating when instead of people accepting themselves as they are, they have to go out and physically (and expensively) have themselves operated on?
I've watched porn movies. Lots of them. And fake breasts are not attractive. They look silly, they don't wobble naturally and they stand to attention when a girl is lying down.
When you massage fake breasts, you can feel the implants at the side of the breast!
So, not only are they unattractive and unreal to look at, they don't feel right either!
The only reason a girl would get them is to look better with clothes on.
How sad and tragic is that?
Who are these role-models these girls are looking up to anyways? Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, Christina Ricci, Roseanne Barr and Kate Winslet don't have fake breasts. Do they? Or am I out of touch with reality?
Out of all my female friends and family I know one person who's got breast implants (totally un-needed as well) and one person who's had her breasts removed (and that was due to a sex change, which in my eyes was totally uncalled for as well). So my group of female friends is unrepresentive of the statistics.
Does anyone hear have friends who've had cosmetic surgery? More than three people in close vicinity?
And returning to this labia correction malarky: how the hell are women even aware of this? Come off it! Surely it's like having a frenulum enlargement: "It's nigh on invisible when I draw back the skin, doc.". Or having a ball sack tuck: "It just kind of sags...it's scrote ugly."
Why on earth would a woman want to have her labia corrected? And corrected into what? I venture to ask.
Seriously, has anyone here ever went down on a girl and thought: "Hey...that's just not right. It needs correcting!"
I don't think cosmetic surgery is the disease, I think the disease is people's inability to accept themselves. And TV and cosmetic surgery are abusing and cashing in on these ill and tragic people!

To answer your question, I know 4 girls (for sure) that have had breast implants, one girl who had a nose job, and 2 girls who have had breast reductions (for medical, not cosmetic reasons).
I could also pick out my partner's labia in a line-up and I assume that most who have a long-term partner would say the same.
And who cares if people want to get plastic surgery or not? It's their body. If bigger breasts that don't sag with age or a smaller nose give women more confidence and self-esteem then more power to them - ther's nothing ill and tragic about that.

If you actually learned how to read properly, all this would be apparent to you.

You know, I was going to formulate an answer for you, but rwingett said it with such precision, I would have been embarrassed to attempt better.

1. It looks fake.
2. It doesn't move right.
3. It doesn't feel right.
So, basically girls (and presumably men who have their fore-skins enlarged or something) are being force-fed rubbish, so they'll go out and spend loads of money making themselves look better in clothes.
As for your argument about confidence building? Rubbish. How on earth were they put in a position that they lack confidence by their looks anyway?
And I bet you a can of beer you couldn't pick your girlfriend's vagina out of a line-up.
I'm just thinking of an objective manner to win this bet...
Originally posted by darvlayhow about their faces getting that unnaturally rigid expression. similar to being brain damaged or with partial facial paralysis. the wrinkles go all wrong, and the result is the face just doesn't look right anymore. the movement just isn't as lively as with uncut face. and they actually wanted that to happen. it's as freaky and tragic as it gets.

same thing with the fake titties. they just look plain wrong, and you also end up having skin sensitivity issues even after the cut off nerves grow back.
I fully agree with averything shavi said, except that enlarged frenulum is really hot!

My point was that cosmetic surgery is an individual choice as is abortion. If women want to have bigger/smaller breasts for whatever reason, big deal.
