Usually I like to affirm and encourage others on the site, yet today I
find myself in need of hearing it myself as today I am feeling very
broken. Nothing to do with chess, but too involved to go into. I am
trying to practice what I preach- asking for support. I know many of
you have been great to me in the past. Kirk, today, the wounded.
Kirk,
What's the matter today. Think about it from the positive side. When
the life is as toughest and you really feel down, it can only go up from
there. It may not be the overnight success, but like a long and even
game of correspondence chess. A little by little it will go forward.
Don't expect any miracles immediately and show the same patience
(which I know that you have since you are a successful chess player)
as you show in your games.
Find a good game and concentrate on that and your mood will shift,
that's a promise.

The Guest House:
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome, and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from God.

Kirk,
It's very big of you to openly ask for support. The irony here is that in
asking for help, you really helped me...I've been feeling stressed in
my usual, selfish way when I popped on here. I then read your posts
and all of the responding posts of people here reaching out to you
and I feel...inspired. To realize that others struggle on through life
encountering different problems and that, I'm not alone in my
troubles.
I hope you find your way through your current "stuff" and know that
you'll be in my thoughts today as will all the kind words of our
community here at RHP. And I hope you feel good in knowing that
you helped me today.
