I'm curious about what Russ does besides take care of this site? Is this is an actual job and he makes money from it or does he have a real job and this is just a hobby?
I think what he is doing is great but I have to question what his original intention was when he first started.
Having an interest in chess wouldn't one want to improve even if it is ...[text shortened]... me for "Chess" and is busy just keeping this site running and possibly working a real job?
I did quit my job, then put in quite a bit of time into the site. In fact, a company has been formed around it, but I/we take consultancy/contracting jobs, and then use RHP, and other stuff, to fill the gaps meaning I never have a quiet period (which is good and bad). Which is why I still suck at chess, and have never found the time to even try to improve. One day...
But the real value of RHP (to me) over the years is as an excellent reference site when chasing work.

BTW : Google contacted me and the site is being sold for $75,000,000. See you on the beach π
