In this case, I am. I'm as shocked as everyone else. But, again and again, this reality gets driven home by ignorant, racist statements like yours.

The kind of thing they used to say in the US 20 or 30 years ago.

If you read one of my earlier postings you'll realise that I'm not a racist... or ignorant.

All I was ever saying is that they're just WORDS!

You're all far, far, far too sensitive about these things...

I live in a multicultural society, I have friends of different nationalities, I like them and they like me!

What's everyone's problem?

Your hipocritical comments are quite funny...

I will always defend words, any words.... they're part of our language, so why shouldn't we use them?

Sadly the governments and the so called 'watchdogs' are all too eager to jump all over certain word usage for fear of causing offence...
We are adults and should be able to deal with stuff in an adult man take on a different meaning...

Enough said on the matter as far as I'm concerned.
Well, you see that is where the difference is.

I have friends that i let call me stuff (none of them call me jock though), and i allow them to call me familiarities, if some poof try's to take the piss, that is a different matter. It is the derogatory use of these same terms you so covet that i was just making you aware of, I dare you to come to birmingham with me in November and call complete strangers Paki.

As for my hypocrisy, that seems like a word all too often used on this site, and seldom used properly.

In conclusion, if you use the word "Jock" and the words "Michelle McManus" in the same post when refering to me, i take it you are trying to insult me.

edit 😵 This is too easy

Look mate, i didn't mean you no harm, i was just buzzin off you, right ?

One thing though....

If you went into a bar in Glasgow, and started calling everyone Jock, you WOULD get chinned with a beer glass, and if you went to a house party in Finglas and started calling everyione Paddy, you WOULD get taken out and beaten severely. I'm just making you aware of that.

Keep your words, covet them, and i hope they serve you well.

Me, i'm done with this thread. . .Peace 🙂

No it isn't. Read about the history of Normandy.

Might have got the cat's eyes wrong though.

The point is you can take liberties with your friends because you all know where you stand with each other. You can't make that assumption with strangers. One man's nigga is another man's African American.

I do find the use of Jock, Taff, and what have you bemusingly archaic.

True enough...but people make an awful fuss about words...like the words in my passport that state my nationality...can't just waltz into the UK any time I feel like it...and some words are better used in select company...what is a blade by the way?
