This author says findings show fetal stem cells can lay dormant
in mom's body for decades and help fix bad organs inside moms
body and now showing these stem cell cross the blood/brain barrier
and hang around inside moms brain to fix problems there.
It makes sense in an evolutionalry way because a healthy mom
has a better chance of raising a healthy kid. Interesting stuff.

Originally posted by sonhouseThanks for posting this article. The cells which lay dormant come from a fetus the mother carries. So far it has only been seen in mice although humans seem likely. Not trying to nit pick but just wanted this to be more clear to the people too lazy to read the whole article. And stem cells don't so much hang around to fix things as act as replacement parts. I'm a little skeptical about the Alzheimer's treatment possibilities. We don't know the causes of most of the demylinating diseases and for all we know, newly formed nerve cells, from stem cells will soon have their axons stripped of myelin as well making the treatment useless. I just think more research on both the stem cells and the diseases needs to be done before people make claims like that. Good article though, everyone should read it.
