About a week ago I had to make the 20-minute drive from my cousin's baseball game to my apartment.....
It took an HOUR AND A HALF. An hour and a half cause some jerk in a SUV got bored and decided to rear-end some other jerk in a SUV and then both the jerks decided to take out a few more jerks in other stupid over-priced cars and cost me a hour of valuable lounging-around time, which is bullcrap....
BUT... I did get to witness something that could have easily been out of one of Bill Engvall's "Here's your sign" bits....
Standing on the side of the road, a good mile or so from the SUV wreck, was a lone police officer. He was standing there, motionless, in front of a long line of halted cars that ants were outrunning.... holding a radar gun, the kind that cops use to clock us friendly people trying to rush home to catch up on our lounging around time.... WHILE NONE OF THE CARS WERE MOVING! And he was standing perfectly still, not budging or anything, big sunglasses on and all. I think I stared at him for about ten minutes or so before I realized the cars in front of me had pulled up a good two car lengths.
But anyway, it just amazed me how dedicated some morons here in the south can be I guess. No wonder Bush is still in office. (zing!)
