Hello RHPers,
I want to promote the work of one of my favourite comedians, Boothby Graffoe (named after a small rural hamlet in Lincolnshire). His musical album 'Wot Italian?' is available to buy on CD for only £10 from his website, www.boothbygraffoe.com and includes such great song titles as "Don't Put That There It Will Fa-...Oh Look!", "The Consequences of Living in a Container", "Giraffe's Don't Play Harmonicas, So It Can't Be A Giraffe", and "Planet Dog".
Here are the lyrics to one of my favourites:
Jeffrey's Song
You look like you want to go away
But I know you're going to stay
For though your heart is in L.A.
Your head's in my fridge
There's flowers in your hair - they're not real, they're made of silk
There's a note in your mouth to remind me to buy milk
Though your liver's in pate
Your head's in my fridge
I don't want you to go
'Cause there's something I really need to know
If anybody can tell me, baby you're the one
When I close the door, does the light stay on?
As I sit here and put the finishing touches to this ballad
Your little eyes stare up at me through the salad
Don't think you're going to give me the answer that I crave
Guess it's time for me to go and dig another grave
It's acoustic music with skilfully played guitars and the occasional undistorted electric, and the vocal delivery is understated, witty and ironic and tuneful. I suggest you take a chance and buy it, or go and see one of his gigs.
Thanks for listening
