Take it back to the shop you bought it from, hand it back to the clerk and when he asks why you're returning it say "I'm not clever enough to use Plug and Play USB software, let alone an i-Pod."

At this point he'll look quite confused and then you say "I didn't even bother searching the internet or even Apple's support website for one of the many help pages or FAQs".

Problem solved!

If you can find your way back to that shop that is.

Are you connecting your ipod to a Mac (the preferred method ! 😀) or on some inferior PC run by Bill Gates?

A few general questions....

Mac or PC?
Have you tried a different cable?
Have you tried a different Ipod?
have you verified that the USB ports to which you have attached this device are, in fact, working?

How many iPods do you think someone buys in 1 single purchase?

He said he bought a "new" iPod. I guess he now has two at least. And people might know someone else with an iPod who can be of assistance.

(Hmmm, this a good thread to scan for potential members of my clan. Please leave your name in this thread so I can spam you with my clan membership offers.)

Mac or PC?
have you installed iTunes?
have you installed latest iPod updater?
