That players like User 173385 have been inactive for nearly two years but still have their subscriptions automatically renewed?

Isn't it their money that they are spending? I was thinking of how much money the site can get from inactive subscribers that have gone or have i got it wrong?

(please note i am not moaning about it, just an observation)

Seems a fair question Tchex, but wouldn't it be in site ideas where it is more likely to recieve the appropriate attention and response?

Perhaps it's an idea not to take a direct debit from someone when they are dead!

'Tis their responsibility to cancel the subscription.

This thread is not about whether dead chess players have feelings

lol true

but the point is that the responsibility to cancel a subscription is with the subscriber NOT the site.

Do you expect Russ to check whether each person who didn't cancel their subscription is dead?

But if the subscriber has already cashed in their one-way ticket to the happy hunting ground, how are they supposed to unsubscribe?

Perhaps all members should be required to provide proof that they are alive?

if they have died then either their bank account will get closed (automatically unsubscribing them since the payment will not clear) or whoever takes over the account (spouse or whatever) will see payments being made and can stop any future payments from being made. [edit]they could even contact Russ and explain and they will get a refund too[/edit]

i doubt many cases of this are likely anyway really - do you?
